The Art of the Level 19 WSG Twink

Me and my group of friends are always on the lookout for a new and improved way to have fun in World of Warcraft. A couple weeks ago we were trying out a new group and we decided to join a Warsong Gulch game for fun. We got the floor wiped with us. There seemed to be a large population of rogues in the game and they all had three times the hit points as our warrior. Still we had fun learning how to flag capture at low levels and gang up on level 19 druids with 1800hp.

After our little foray we decided to make a group of 19 alts who would do nothing but play Warsong Gulch games. We figured it would be good practice for the upcoming Arena and most of my friends have been playing long enough that we have very good gold reserves. Deciding to avoid the most common weakness in such groups we had two members of our group make a priest and a druid. The priest is a little bit harder to twink then a leather wearing class but its still possible.

We loaded up on every blue we could get from low level dungeons and the auction house. Then we enchanted the hell out of everything. Because our group had a large number of rogues duel wielding cruel barbs we were thinking about naming our little guild the Cruel Barb Corp but later decided to take a page from Douglas Adams and called ourselves Do Not Panic. Apparently you can't use apostrophes in guild names.

After everything was completed on our characters we grouped up and entered our first game. Then ran into a stalemate. Apparently despite all our twinkage there is an upper limit on the gear of a level 19 and we had hit it along with half the other people playing. It was kind of liberating in a way since everything was extremely balanced. Strategy and coordination seemed to play a bigger part in the game instead of just getting behind the guy with all the epics. We finally managed to win using a 3 defense -4 midground -3 attack plan.

Rotating out rogues in the attack seemed to help with always making sure the flag runner had sprint up. We lost our flag a couple of times but managed to get the fifth flag capture for victory. It was one of the most rewarding pvp experiences I've ever had in a MMORPG. It just goes to show how much a difference a fair matching system is going to make when its implemented into World of Warcraft pvp. Note of warning that playing an untwinked level 19 without good teammates is suicide and I wouldn't recommend it.

Here's an idea of what the Rogues were using in the 19 BG

Head: 150 Engineering Goggles with 100hp item enchant
Shoulders: Serpent's Shoulders from Lady Anacondra (WC)
Chest: Blackened Defias Chestpiece from VanCleef (DM) with 100hp enchant
Pants: Leggings of the Fang from Commander Cobra (WC) with 100hp item enchant
Shoes: Boots of the Lynx from the AH with minor runspeed enchant
Bracer: Forest Leather Wristguards from the AH with +9sta enchant
Gloves: Level19 Gloves of the Monkey with +7agi enchant
Back: Sentry Cloak from AH with +70AC enchant
Belt: Deviate Hide Belt from Leatherworker
Ring1: Bloodstone Ring
Ring2: Seal of Wrynn from Quest
Weapon1: Assassin’s Blade or Cruel Barb with +15agi or +5 Weapon Dmg enchant
Weapon2: Cruel Barb with +15agi enchant

That's not an idea of what they are wearing - that *is* what they are wearing!

I think they should give every class a similar set of gear when they enter and let "skill" be a factor instead of outgeared brutal force.

I'm getting my own twink geared up simply because I couldn't just join the bg and have fun geared as I was.

I think the idea of twinking stunk up bgs for the majority of low level players, but if you can't beat 'em - join 'em!

Yes it can be a bit unfair but the cost of making a leve 19 twink character is about 700gp and maybe 20hrs of time. Its at least got a upper limited that most bored players can meet. Whats the cost of making a tier 3 equipped warrior? Very high I believe.

Its all about "Choose your own Endgame"

Twinking 19 is a good time, though I do wish there were more items available for non-leather wearers, but at least you don't have to raid to get it done. Heck, you don't even need to be part of a large guild like you would to get epix for your 60, just have a few friends, name a level, and go.

I'm into the twink games myself. I am currently in the process of making a twink priest. My expected gear is as follows:

Head: 150 eng. goggles

Neck: 3 stam neck from JC's

Shoulder: 3stam 6int mantle from WC quest

Cloak: Battle Healers Cloak (PvP reward)

Chest: VC's shirt

Shirt: Stylish red, wouldnt have it any other way ;)

Tabard: Guild Tabbard

Wrists: "Of the Eagle" or "Of the whale"... not sure which

Staff: Staff of Westfall
Wand: A dranei quest gives you a wand with +1 int. Not sure what its called, but the dranei priest is prime anyway because it gives your entire party +250 mana every 5 minutes (racial ability)

Gloves: Same as above

Waste: Picked up "Thorsens Waistband" or something off AH... 3stam 8int... its nice

Pants: Woolen Trousers (made by any tailor)

Feet: See gloves n bracers

Rings: Snelligs Ring (VC) and Deep Fathom Ring (WC)

Trinkets: Insignia of the Alliance.
Not sure what to do with that other empty slot. I wonder if there is a minimum level requirement for the cards that you trade into the darkmoon faire? That trinket would be neat to have... who knows.

Anyway, enchant boots with speed, cloak with armor, staff with healing, and anything and everything else with HP. The way I see it, I have roughly 1200 mana from my gear... that is more than id need to cast as many heals as id need in any given PvP scenario... the stamina is so I can live long enough to get the high powered rogues off me (who could 3-4 shot me when i had int buffs instead of stam and armor).

So when all is said and done, you have a priest with roughly 1250 HP, 1350 int, and 700-800 armor (with buffs up). Not to mention the +healing ensures nice results.

Please comment on this if you think theres something I can do better or with other strategies I could try. Level 19 is the most fun PvP i've yet encountered in this game... and I've encountered quite a bit.

Also, if there are known twink bracers, gloves, pants, or boots for clothees, please let me know. Thanks!

Finalized Gear:

Head: 150 engr. goggles
Neck: 3 stam JC necklace
Shoulders: Talbar Shoulders
Back: Caretakers Cloak (PVP)
Chest: Treebark Jacket
Shirt: Stylish Red, ah yeah
Tabbard: Guild Tabbard
Bracers: Bright Bracers
Weapon: Twisted Chanters Staff/Staff of Westfall (depending on situation)
Wand: Dranei Wand with +1int
Gloves: Magefist Gloves
Belt: Keller's Girdle
Pants: Darkweave Britches
Shoes: Sanguine Slippers
Rings:
PvP Ring
Snelligs Ring
Trinkets:
For now I have 2 of the engr. 140 trinkets that dispell polymorph and add health and mana. Eventually I'll replace them (over a loooong course of time) with insignia of the alliance and arena grand masters.

Hey, i also have a 19twink priest. Have you considered a Gravestone Scepter aka. ultimate 19twink cheaters weapon. check it out http://www.thottbot.com/i7001
it has 29dps, even more if your wand spec.

Hey, if you're gonna twink a priest (that's gonna heal) in WSG, go for Staff of the Blessed Seer. BoE blue staff that you can usually pick up at an AH (drops off BFD trash mobs) and has great +int and +heals. Enjoy.

P.S. Twinks ruined BG's. *Sigh*.

No int on staff of the blessed seer, Lucky fishing hat is best twink hat ever, so are the Nat Pagle's Extreme Angling boots (cuz u can enchant them with +35 enchants), and btw get Arena Grand Master, not to forget Minor Recombobulator as priest since your +healing is added up, +250 healing(my twink priest)means a recombobulate crit of 750+.

Attach Clefthide armour patch to legs aswell..
Make sure your item isn't soul-bound and give it to a level 60 you can trust. Ask them to attach the clefthide to it and boom...
+30stam +10agility
or go with spellthread..
+25spell dmg +15stamina
+54healing +15stamina.

TO TWINK A PRIEST: There is in fact twink gear for clothies it goes as follows...

Head: Lucky Fishing Hat

Shoulder: Talbar Mantle

Chest: Tree Bark Jacket (+100hp)

Bracer: Mindthrust bracers (+24Heal)

Glove: Magefist Gloves (+30 heal)

Belt: Keller's Girdle

Legs: Darkweave Breeches (+66heal and +20 sta)

Boots: Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots (+9sta and minor speed)

Staff: Staff of the blessed seer (+55heal)

Wand: Gravestone Scepter

Trinket: Arena Grand Master and insignia of horde/alliance

Horde ring: Ring of Sylvanas and Advisor's ring(pvp reward)

Alliance ring: Seal of wrynn and Lorekeeper's ring(pvp reward)

Cloak: PvP cloak with +12 dodge rating or armor enchant

This is for cloth leather people are better i think. Rogues with over 80% dodge and 35% crit at lvl 19 w/o buffs or any help from skills.

about "best twink head ever"!

there is actually a better hat for twinks! it has 25 stamina on it and that's a reward (Friendly) with the Bloodsail Buccaneers. but you have to be carefull with to not get over lvl 19 ofc!! here's a link for it: http://www.thottbot.com/i12185

The Bloodsail Admiral's hat is a quest reward from a quest that is gained when you achieve friendly with the Bloodsail Buccaneer's. The quest requires level 55, and the hat is not obtainable at level 19.
